Watching the Fire in Alpine on the 4th of July

The Fourth of July was truly a sad day in Alpine. We watched our beloved verdant east mountain range go up in fire, smoke, and ashes. The 10 pm view was the most spectacular, horrific thing I have ever witnessed in person.

Can you spot the evacuees?

Garrett at the 4th of July Parade

The only shot of Garrett DURING the parade was a video, so whoops. No pics but the one above.

Weston at the 4th of July Parade

He carried the US Navy flag - in honor of his Grandpa Jack Cousins who served in Vietnam.

This marks his last event as a member of the Lake Ridge Elementary Honor Guard. We are sad to be leaving such a great organization. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Reed, Mrs. Clements, Ms. Neild and Braden!!!!

Lydia at the 4th of July Parade

She went on her dance company's float. She had a blast!

Garrett and Weston were in the School Spelling Bee

That means they were one of the two best spellers in their class. They both got out in the first round, but they did so with dignity. Love my boys.
